Premier Viewing of Sarah Curtis on YouTube! 14/7/21 @ 7.30PM

This Wednesday (14th July 2021) at 7.30pm, tune into my YouTube channel to watch with me, the premier viewing of "The Lady Of Shalott", which I shall be performing on piano and voice. (Link is below)

This video, actually took me about three hours to get right, and was quite a marathon of a piece to play! Originally the song would of been about fourteen minutes long, having twenty eight verses! but I managed to whittled it down to just fourteen to try to keep the interest of the song. The original recording by Loreena Mckennet is beautiful, having lots of other instrumentation, weaving in and out of the piece. So I hope that I have done the song justice, and is still engaging enough to listen to, just with the piano and voice. The poem that the song is adapted from is by Lord Alfred Tennyson. At first I thought that the Lady Of Shalott, was actually Guinevere, found floating in the lake, because of her love of Sir Lancelot, even though she was married to King Arthur, but having looked into the poem a bit more, I found out that The Lady Of Shalott was a seperate charactor, and I am gussing she had some kind of spell on her, where by she was locked in a tower, destined to live out her life, looking at the outside world through a mirror, whilst doing her tapestry work, but then as the poem goes on, she decided she had had enough. I won't say anymore, just incase you are not familiar with the poems end.

So I hope you can make it on Wednesday, and I shall be available in the chat, if you would like to say hi.

Hope to see you all there!

Sarah x
