Join us on Saturday 30th May for our next Songbird Sessions - a fantastic double bill featuring two exceptional singer-songwriters, Ruhiya and Sarah Curtis, this time in the beautiful setting of St Benedict’s Church, Glastonbury.
This will be an intimate evening of original songs, gentle harmonies, and music that soothes the spirit, shared by devotional‑folk artist Ruhiya and Sufi‑inspired singer‑songwriter Sarah Curtis. A chance to slow down, listen deeply, and rest in a moment shaped by beauty, remembrance, and heartfelt musical presence.
Ruhiya is a British‑Filipino singer‑songwriter whose music weaves together folk, soul, sacred chant, and nature‑based devotion, creating songs that feel both intimate and timeless. Drawing on her Visayan heritage and years of performing internationally, she offers music as a practice of healing, remembrance, and spiritual connection, inviting listeners into a space of tenderness, depth, and presence. As one reviewer beautifully put it, “Ruhiya sings as if opening a door to something ancient and deeply familiar.”
Sarah Curtis, a Somerset-based singer-songwriter, brings Sufi-inspired spirituality to her original songs and tender reworkings of well-known covers. Performing on harp, and guitar, her music is rooted in love, nature, and opening hearts. Beth Orton describes her voice as “so beautiful.”
Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start.
£15 on the door (cash only), or you can book online at www.ruhiya.com. Refreshments will also be available to buy during the interval, also by cash only.
